WordPress developer & software studio · London

Engineering, not templates.

Most agencies stop where the difficulty starts — the payment rail nobody supports, the language with no tooling, the part that has to run unattended at three in the morning. That half is the work I do.

The work

Three platforms, built and running.

These are my own products, and I say so plainly — there are no client logos here, because I would rather show you something real than a badge you cannot check. Every screenshot below is the actual software, not a mockup.

01 · News and radio

Raadiyo 5

raadiyo5.com · live

A Somali news and radio station that publishes in two languages at once. Six plugins written from nothing: translation at the moment of publishing, a spoken bulletin in the masthead, and a newsroom that stays fast on a cheap Android over weak data.

Somali has almost no publishing tooling. Everything you can see here had to be built rather than installed.

02 · Property platform

Toyad Homes

toyadhomes.com · opening shortly

A sales and lettings platform for Nairobi and Mombasa. The theme and the companion plugin were written from scratch rather than bought, so search, listings, developments, agents and enquiries behave the way the business actually works.

It carries a branded Agent Portal, an assistant that answers in English, Somali or Kiswahili, and a live visitor monitor. The data model follows an industry standard, so the client is never locked to me.

03 · Reading app and subscription

Akhri

akhri.tech · live, behind a member code

A subscription reading app, written in house from end to end and running on Cloudflare. It reads PDF and EPUB, turns a page into Somali, English or Arabic with one tap, reads aloud, and works on a five-year-old phone.

Sign-in, member codes, the shop page, the payment instructions and the owner dashboard were all written in house — and it builds proper EPUBs from a client's manuscript, right-to-left Arabic included.

Tourpoint

Click-to-play walkthrough videos, and viewing requests that convert time zones — for agents whose buyers are in a different country from their staff. Reviewed by the WordPress plugin team and published in the official directory, where anyone can install it.

Getting into that directory means the code passed somebody else's standards, not just mine. That is the part worth checking.

The assistant

The chat in the corner of this page is mine — I wrote it, and it runs on Cloudflare's free tier, not on somebody's monthly plan. It answers questions about the work, the prices and what is possible, in whatever language it is written to, and it hands people over to me rather than pretending to be me.

Everything it knows sits in one plain text file. Changing what it says about your business is editing that file — no training, no data science, no waiting for anyone. That is why it suits an agency, a clinic, a letting office, a shop: the person who knows the business can keep it right themselves.

Ask it yourself. Press Ask a question and try to catch it out — then imagine it answering your own customers at two in the morning.

You are looking at it

This website.

There is no WordPress under this page. No page builder, no theme, no plugins, no monthly platform. It is written by hand and it runs on Cloudflare’s free tier, with automatic HTTPS and one small hand-written program behind it doing the assistant, the translation and this form — no framework, nothing bought in, and it stays up when my own computer is off.

That is why it opens the moment you touch it. There is no database to query before the first word appears, no twenty plugins loading, nobody’s script watching you. If you want a site like this one, that is a thing I sell — and you have already spent a few minutes testing it.

  • Hand-written HTML, CSS & JavaScript
  • No framework
  • Cloudflare, free tier
  • Free automatic HTTPS
  • No libraries
  • SQLite (Cloudflare D1)
  • No third-party scripts
  • No cookies

And when a site genuinely needs WordPress — because somebody has to publish every day, like Raadiyo 5 does — I build it in WordPress and write the plugins it needs. Choosing which one you need is the job.

XAUUSD Structure Scanner

A gold chart-reading tool for MetaTrader 4. Market structure, order blocks, fair value gaps and resting liquidity, turned into one readable panel — with a 0–100 score that prints every point it awarded, and a complete trade setup with an entry, a stop and three targets. It reads the chart. It does not predict, and it says so.

WordPress plugins

Twenty plugins, written from nothing.

Not settings inside somebody else’s plugin — twenty separate pieces of software, written in PHP against the WordPress API and running in production today. This is the list, and what each one actually does.

RKG LuqadOne newsroom in two languages instead of two websites. It reads the visitor’s language, filters the site to it, and pairs every story with its translation.
RKG TurjumaanThe translation engine behind it, tuned for the way radio news is actually written in Somali, with its own glossary of names and terms.
RKG CodkaGives every article a spoken version, from a separate reading script so numbers and abbreviations are said properly rather than spelled out.
Warbixinta OtomaatiggaBuilds the daily bulletin on its own — picks the day’s stories, writes them into the fixed running order, and reads them aloud.
FiidiyowTurns a recorded bulletin into a video for YouTube, drawing a station card and a real waveform around audio that is already on the site.
Studio Audio ConverterConverts studio recordings to MP3 in the browser before they are uploaded, so a bulletin plays on every phone rather than most of them.
AkhrisTurns a plain WordPress post into a page that reads like a modern newsroom: reading progress, live timestamps, key points.
CiyaarahaA sport section with a live scoreboard — real fixtures, live scores and full-time results, kept current on its own.
WariyeA staff-only newsroom bot. Paste the text and a photo, give one instruction in Somali or English, and it publishes. Readers never see it.
TifaftirePublishes under the newsroom’s own name instead of a WordPress username, and points the byline at the About page. Login accounts untouched.
Transmission Front PageReplaces the home page with a purpose-built front-page design and leaves every other page on the existing theme. Switch it off and the old one is back.
RKG AppTurns the site into an app a reader installs from Chrome — its own icon, no browser bar, and it still works when the signal drops.
RKG DegdegMakes a published story appear at once on every device, instead of waiting for a cache somewhere to notice.
Wararka GooglePublishes a proper Google News sitemap, which the usual SEO plugins do not do on their own.
Radio KG OnlineWho is reading the site right now, where they are and what they are on — a live counter and a daily record.
BT Visitor InsightsSelf-hosted visitor analytics with geolocation, page views, device detection and a real-time dashboard. No third-party tracking script anywhere.
SaacaddaRuns WordPress’s timed jobs itself, because that server will not. Nothing else on the site changes.
Toyad CoreThe property, agent and enquiry engine behind Toyad Homes: listings, developments, agents and enquiries, on an industry-standard data model.
Toyad Launch SwitchOne clear on/off switch for a pre-launch holding page, so a site can be taken public — or put back — without touching anything else.
TourpointClick-to-play property videos and viewing requests that do the timezone arithmetic. Reviewed and published in the official WordPress.org directory.
Need a plugin that does not exist yet? If what your business needs is not in the plugin directory — or the one that is there does nine tenths of the job and then stops — that is exactly this work. Tell me the part that is missing and I will tell you honestly whether it is a plugin, a setting, or a bad idea. Start there.

Under the bonnet

I write the software myself.

Not a page builder and not a bought template. Here is a piece of a working tool of mine, exactly as it is on disk — it takes the mess a video caption track arrives in and puts it back into paragraphs a person can read.

read_video.py
# ------------------------------------------------------------ the words

def tidy(raw):
"""Captions arrive as short lines with timestamps and repeats. Glue
them back into paragraphs a person can actually read."""
    lines, seen = [], ""
    for ln in raw.splitlines():
        ln = ln.strip()
if not ln or ln.isdigit() or ln.startswith("WEBVTT"):
            continue
        if "-->" in ln:
            continue
        ln = re.sub(r"<[^>]+>", "", ln)               # <c> colour tags
        ln = re.sub(r"\[[^\]]*\]", "", ln).strip()    # [Music], [Applause]

See it working

Do not take my word for any of it.

Two things on this page are running software, not pictures of software. Use them. The assistant in the corner is the third.

Type English. Get seven languages.

Somali and Arabic are the hard ones — the pieces most developers quietly refuse. The engine runs on my own server, and the same one publishes a whole news site in two languages at once and turns a page of a book into Arabic with one tap.

The translation appears here.

Need your site in two languages? That is the same machinery, and it is already built and running — Raadiyo 5 publishes every story in two languages at the moment it is posted. Which pair you want is the easy part.

What is that monthly fee really costing you?

Wix, Squarespace, a funnel builder, an app subscription. Put the number in and see it over three years, against owning the same thing outright.

£2,760 over three years, and you still would not own it. Owning it: £1,080 — a Starter site plus three years of hosting. You keep £1,680.

Rough, and honest about it: your site may need the £1,800 tier instead. The arithmetic does not change much.

What I do

WordPress development, and the awkward half nobody else wants.

Anyone can install a theme. These are the jobs that usually come back with "that is not really what we do".

Sites with no platform behind them at allWritten by hand — no WordPress, no page builder, no monthly platform, nothing to update and nothing to break. They still do things: forms, calculators, assistants, live demonstrations. The page you are reading is one, and it is the fastest thing I could give a visitor on a weak connection.
Web platforms and applicationsWordPress built properly — custom themes and plugins, not a bought theme bent into shape. And applications where WordPress is the wrong answer.
Payments in any marketTaking money properly: Stripe, PayPal and WooCommerce checkouts, subscriptions and invoices — plus the rails most developers decline, like mobile money, bank transfer, and markets where the card never arrives. Card details never touch your server.
AI language and speechSites in two languages, translation, text to speech and assistants — including languages the big providers barely support. Shipped in Somali, Arabic, Kiswahili and English; the same machinery takes any pair you need.
Your website, installable as an appOn Android a visitor gets a real Install button and your site lands on their home screen with your icon — no app store, no developer account, no review. Apple does not allow that prompt, so on iPhone I build the panel that shows them Add to Home Screen. Raadiyo 5 and Akhri both do it today.
Automation that runs unattendedThe job that has to work at three in the morning with nobody watching, and tell you when it does not.
Systems and self-hosted infrastructureYour own server instead of a subscription for every small thing. Set up, secured, backed up, and documented so you are not tied to me.
Trading expert advisors and indicatorsYour rules coded exactly, for MetaTrader 4. Software development — not an investment product, and no performance is promised.
Search, structure and speedSchema, sitemaps, Core Web Vitals, and the unglamorous work that decides whether anyone finds the site at all.
Rescue workA site half-built by someone else, a plugin that broke, a migration that went wrong. Often the fastest money you will ever spend.

What it costs

Priced by the size of the thing, not by the hour.

Real prices, written down before we start. You always know the number before any work begins, and it does not move unless you change what you asked for.

A small site that does its job. Up to five pages, your words and pictures, works on a phone, and a contact form that reaches you.

  • Up to 5 pages
  • Mobile and desktop
  • Contact form
  • Live in about two weeks

Business website

from £1,800

Designed for you rather than bought as a template. For a company that will be judged on how the site looks.

  • Up to 12 pages, designed not templated
  • News or blog you can update
  • Search setup and speed work
  • An hour of training, and notes

Custom platform

from £4,500

When the site has to do something. Listings, bookings, members, payments — a theme and a plugin written for your business, the way Toyad Homes was.

  • Custom theme and plugin
  • Listings, bookings or members
  • Payments, including markets others decline
  • Your own admin, built around your work

Application or platform

from £7,500

Its own software on its own server. Several languages, speech, translation, subscriptions — the scale of Raadiyo 5 or Akhri.

  • Your own server, set up and secured
  • Translation, speech, automation
  • Source code and notes handed over
Fixing someone else's mess£60 an hour, or a fixed quote once I have looked. Often the fastest money you will ever spend.
Looking after it afterwards£95 a month — updates, backups, uptime and small changes. Optional, and you can stop any month.
A check-up on the site you have£150. Send me the address; I spend an hour on it and write down what is wrong, what it is costing you, and what each fix would take. Yours to keep, whoever does the work.
Trading software, built to orderQuoted per job once I have your rules. Software development, not an investment product.

These are the real UK freelance rates for this work, at the accessible end of them. Hosting and the domain are paid by you, direct to the supplier — typically £60 to £200 a year — so nothing is hidden in my price.

Two more, if either sounds like you

The jobs most people do not know they can ask for.

Escape work

Stop paying every month for a site you do not own

Wix, Squarespace, Shopify add-ons, funnel builders — £50 to £200 a month, for ever, and the day you stop paying it disappears. I rebuild it properly on hosting you buy once, move everything across, and the monthly bill stops.

The arithmetic: a funnel platform at $97 a month is about £2,500 over three years. The hosting that site actually needs is under £200 for the same three years.

  • Everything moved, nothing lost
  • Your domain, your hosting, your login
  • Same look or a better one — your choice
  • The saving usually covers the job inside a year

From £900, depending on the size of the site

Book production

Turn a manuscript into a real book

An EPUB people can read on a phone, and a print-ready PDF the printer will accept. From a Word file, a PDF, or photographs of a printed book. Your own cover cleaned up — never replaced with something that is not yours.

The part others refuse: Arabic and Somali. Right-to-left text that actually sets properly, chapters that break in the right place, and a book rebuilt from scans when there is no digital original left.

  • EPUB and print PDF from one source
  • Right-to-left Arabic, set properly
  • Cover cleaned, straightened and sharpened
  • Ready for Amazon KDP or a local printer

English from £180 · Arabic, Somali or rebuilt from scans from £450

How it works

Four steps, no surprises.

01We talkTwenty minutes. You describe the problem. I tell you honestly whether I am the right person for it.
02A fixed priceWritten down before anything starts, with what is included and what is not. It does not move unless you change what you asked for.
03You see it earlyYou get something to look at long before it is finished, so nothing arrives as a shock at the end.
04It is yoursCode, accounts, passwords and notes handed over. No lock-in, no monthly fee you cannot escape.

Who you would be working with

Abdalla

A WordPress developer and software engineer in London. MYiTECH is my studio, and when you hire it you get me — not an account manager and a junior.

Most of what I have built started because something did not exist. There was no decent publishing tooling for Somali, so I wrote it. There was no reading app that handled three scripts on a cheap phone, so I built one. That is the kind of work I am good at: the part where the ready-made answer runs out.

I will tell you when a project is not worth doing, or when something cheaper would serve you better. It costs me the odd sale and saves everyone the bad ones.
